Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend, Jane. Don't know why it is celebrated at a different time than the American one but tis.

And it all went very well. I made turkey with chestnut stuffing, sweet potatoes tomato aspic, garlic mashed potatoes and pumpkin and raspberry pie. We were totally STUFFED.   

Sounds delicious!!!  


Right now when I don't have money, its almost always my own damn fault (part from having to pay stuff for my drunk ass uncle). I am terrible with money, if I get more, I'll simply buy more. Its very stupid and wasteful and I try to change it but I always fall to the same routine.

However I have known actual poverty too. Meaning that there wasn't always enough money for decent food (or enough of it). When we still lived with my father, he often drank all of his money so my mother had to pay everything from her very small wage. Our family saved us from total bankruptcy and of cource the fact that my mom had a job. Things changed a lot when we left my father, there was just so much more money to use.

 

 

Sounds like we are all having money problems! I just came off a TERRIBLE week at both of my jobs, made completely pathetic money. I thought I would be making better money again by now, but nope, still slow. I had two good weeks in september which gave me a false sense of hope that it would continue, but the last 3 weeks have been dirt.

Me and my husband have kept our money seperate. He gives me about 30-40% of his paycheck every week and the rest of his pay is to do what he wants with. I have a lot of personal bills that I use my own money to pay for, I wont let him pay for my personal debts that have nothing to do with him or our joint expenses. But lately we have been having problems with money, now I regret not having a joint account. I thought having a joint account would cause more problems and more fights. My husband seems to be just spending away the rest of his paycheck, and now he is complaining that he gives me TOO MUCH money and he wants more of his paycheck for himself, even though he has between 350-450 a week of money to do what he wants with!!!! I told him do you understand that that vast majority of people do not have half of their income left over after bills to do whatever they want with? I am lucky if I have $350 for the whole month left over after my bills to spend on myself! Only occasionally do I have that!

I had hoped that he would save some of his money, as we have a lot of goals we need to save up for. I have been trying to save for our goals but I can only save a little bit, and he is the one who can save alot and he has been saving nothing so we have been having problems about this lately. I dont know how I can get him to see that we need to save, and possibly need to put all of our money together, right now he is in a very selfish state of mind.

They say money causes a lot of arguments in relationships! I think I 'm quite sensible with money although I hardly save anything because there's not much left over at moment

To me part of being married is a joint partnership which means money too. I'd rather it that way. My husband and I always just check with each other if we want to make a large purchase, but that's about it.

Didn't you have the money talk before you settled, Michele? If you did then it just seems that he hasn't quite accepted that you have joined forces and need to taggle things together.

 

Mark always wanted to be in control of the money, even when he was making none of it. For the little while, I let him because I didn't want to" emasculate" him. Even then he called me a" control freak". Often his insults to me were really more a description of himself. God what an asshole that guy was and is. I don't think I've mentioned that I felt that way about him? . Soo very pleased to be shot of him and so very pleased that we did not have a joint bank account. Ideally, yes, a joint bank account is a great idea but realistically speaking, with so many marriages that fail, it's just as well to maintain a separate one, unless you are ABSOLUTELY 100 percent sure that you trust your partner and that if worse came to worse, he isn't the sort to go for the jugular and drain you down to your last few drops of blood, so to speak.

I'm having a hair disaster, I'm not sure if it's to much straightening it, or the sun on holiday, or washing it in too hot water, but it is so dry I'm really scared it is going to break. It was already bad from being dyed which is why I've had it cut shorter, but lately it is even worse! Need some good conditioning treatments....

We have a joint account, its just easier for us cos then we each have a card to the same money, not that it lasts long anyway lol, but if craigs working on his pay day i can go shopping without having to wait

Got a little treat bought from avon due tomorrow, pretty, sparkly red nail varnish. Yall should see my nails right now, really long and strong, just got to paint them :)

I don't think I would ever accept a joint account. However an extra account to handle the bills, would be okay. My folks have that, they move money to it and then pay from there. So you get to have a semi joint account but also your own account.

 

 

I'm absolutely sure I can trust my husband. He's a good man and also my friend.
Each to their own though. I just prefer not having to deal with finances. I have enough to deal with.

Yeah. It might also be about balance, who brings in the cash etc. If I ever found a hubby and settled down (which prolly won't happen ), I doubt he would earn much more than me. So it would be very much 50/50 and paying things from our own accounts.

I am going on a date this Saturday. Its date 2. He is very cute and smart and chatty. Sadly, yeah sadly, the last guy was like him and he was not ready to be in r/l. So I might get another fun ride, but that's about as far as it gets. Damn sagittariuses.
