PostSubject: 50 Shades of Grey   50 Shades of Grey I_icon_minitimeMon Sep 10, 2012 4:12 am

I picked this up in the shop yesterday and had a quick look; the one page I opened it at was like, one long text conversation, but I'm getting tempted to buy it just to see what all the fuss is about. Has anyone on here read it? tempted? they're making a film and everything, apparently

Read them all, I thought I posted about it? I had to read it since it was everywhere and loads of people at work were raving about it.

I doubt you would get through them though Pet, the writing is atrocious.

I am still TRYING to read the first one but I can tell you IT IS THE WORST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!!!

Seriously HORRID! I was a better writer when I was 10!

The characters suck, they have no depth and no real personality.

Her writing is shitty and even worse, insanely repetitive!

If I read one more time her thinking "my inner goddess this, my inner goddes that" or "Miss Steele" and "Mr Grey" I will chuck the book against the wall!

if either of these characters in real life existed like she writes them I would want to punch them in the face!

If I ever meet someone in real life with those last names I will CRINGE!!!!

And I am skimming through all the shit writing and just trying to read the sex scenes but even they are horrid!!!!! She somehow makes S&M sound like the corniest sexual acts in the world. I dont know how that is even possible but she managed it!

WORST BOOK EVER!!!!! The only reason to read it is just to see how truly bad it actually is! I def will skip even trying to read the second and third one

I felt the same way about Dan Browns' books. The subject matter was very interesting, the writing...YUCH it was al so generic and he repeated the same plotlines over and over
.And the same mass hysteria. Great marketing. remember Nicci French? I really don't think their books were THAT great. but it was succesfull because EVERYBODY read em! people don't want to feel left out. so they buy it and try their hardest to love it. and then hate it when it becomes "cool" to hate it.

That whole "inner godess" hing has been chewed out, swallowed -regurgitated and then chewed again and again and again. Every friggin' woman with even a tiniest hint of a having "backbone" is a "goddess"all of a sudden.Give birth; you're a goddess.Shave with Gillette: Feel the goddess in you-It's that simple!

every woman with dexterous fingers and an "itch" she just can't seem to scratch is a "strong, womanly, sexual being"...in the meantime; readers of 50 shades of Grey(except for jane:P) are women, sex-starved and flicking their beans while flipping through those pages- whilst their husbands are getting off by looking at online porn-connecting with their "inner god?" .

Just because it's on printed page and paperback doesn't stop it from being finger-banging material

I picked it up again yesterday and had a more indepth flick through; to me most of it seems to consist of emails and texts, where is the actual narrative?

Dunno, maybe I'm ill?!!! By the end of the first book I genuinely wanted to know what happened next. Despite the terrible writing I was intrigued by how it would work out. I found Christian interesting, but then I am interested in damaged males gone off the rails.

Pet the majority of the book is dialogue and sex. btw there is no sex until page 125 or something! I thought the emails were the best bits as they are both more honest with each other via this medium.

Don't know about that but there is plenty of that in the Beauty books.

I agree about all dan brown books having the same plot, but at least the actual writing itself is good. He doesnt repeat the same lines over and over and over again throughout his books. He actually develops his characters, and he knows how to be descriptive without overdoing it and with being interesting, and he also knows how to write dialogue that sounds like it would in real life.

This woman, on the other hand, has not a single writing skill at all. She has no plot, no character development, her characters are also not believable, you dont care about them, they are beyond annoying, and she doesnt know how to do description well, and she literally repeats repeats repeats repeats the same things over adn over and over and over and over again throughout the book.

I dont know any woman who has an "inner goddess" in her head, not only is it ridiculous, but she is insanely repetitive with it, and it makes you hate the character of anastasia even more.

The sex in the book like I said isnt at all masturbation worthy. I dont see how any woman could get any kind of arousal or sexual pleasure from reading it. Her writing of it is only good for a good laugh. It is beyond corny and simply boring.

I read half of the first book and I am not going to finish it. but she is writing it as this man who is only into S&M with women, yet she is making him quickly fall in love with a girl who is a complete ANNOYING MORON, and there is no way that any guy who is truly like that would EVER fall for a woman like her, and CERTAINLY not so quickly. It is beyond contrived

really? I thought the emails were ridiculous and stupid. Im sorry but a man as successful and important as this guy would not be constantly sending this idiot of a woman emails every 3 minutes throughout his day and while he is in meetings. PLEASE!
