why are the antibiotics bad for you?

I hope the antibiotics only do what they are supposed to do and not cause any other issues. I've been on them for almost a year now, and will be on them for another month at least. Thankfully I haven't had any bad reactions to them so far.

I thought you can build up an immunity to them if you are on them for too long?

Doesn't matter how ill I am my doctor never lets me have them!! That's for colds or viruses though, nothing that serious I guess

I'm on them to help prevent any serious infection, it seems to have worked pretty well. I've had a couple of minor colds, but nothing too bad in all that time so it must still be working.

It's part of the treatment for the Non Hodgkins Lymphoma that I have. Unfortunately when you have that you have a depressed immune system and during and for 6 months after treatment it's important that your body doesn't have to try and fight anything else. I'm feeling pretty good though, so here's hoping it's all working well. I'll find out for sure next week as I have my next check up then.

Kay sorry to hear about your illness. I had to take meds to lower my immune system and it took a year before it returned to normal. I hate antibiotics because they mess up my stomach. And in worst case, they might wake up my colitis again (because antibiotics tend to destroy the good bacteria as well). That's the biggest prob with them, they take out the good with the bad. I am doing everything I can to protect my system against the meds though.

At some point I ate about 18 pills per day... it was then when I learned to hate medicine. I was sick before but after the meds, I felt worse. To this day I have no idea, how I got better.

There is truth to that. Pain and hardship refines us.

What really bugs me right now is that I was suppose to meet a guy tonight but I am just too "foggy" from the drugs and look like an elephant (wo)man so I postponed. It would have been date 4 and it is going so damn slow because we never get to see each other. Tomorrow I am going home for mid summers fest and will come back Sunday night. We have few days next week but my weekend is booked and after that he goes to Roskilde and will be there almost a week. So very hard to make anything out of this.

It's true about pain and hardship refining us. I'm fine, all things considered. I'm still here, I've been through chemotherapy, lost all my hair, all along I looked after my family, and pushed myself every day, I still do and have realized I'm very strong and too stubborn to succumb to an illness without one hell of a battle. Basically I'm superwoman Very Happy

It's been difficult but I'm far too busy to be sick. Now my hair is growing back thicker and darker than ever, it's so nice to have hair again! I had a check up PET Scan yesterday and some blood taken for testing and I'll go and see my hematologist next week. Regardless of the outcome, I'll do what I have to do to be as well as I can for as long as I can. I think I'll be fine though as I feel quite well and energetic Very Happy
