uggghhh!!!! Why why why is there at least one major thing wrong, if not multiple things wrong, with working at every restaurant? And each restaurant has differnet reasons to not want to work there. The new place I am at...I love it. Except, and this is a biggie, I find out today that yes the owner often steals a portion of the server's tips and keeps them for himself!

The tips are pooled, all the servers working that night pool their tips together and get evenly split. Except we cannot do this pooling ourselves. We have to put all our money in the cash box and the next morning the owner comes in and goes over every check and does the tip calculations and then the next time we work we get our tips from the previous shift.

Well sunday night it was only me and one other server, no busser to tip out. We added up the total amount of our tips. Then she tells me that the owner deducts 3% off of the tips to cover the credit card fees he gets charged when people use credit cards (so right there he is stealing because it is illegal to make your employees pay for credit card fees) so after that bullshit 3% deduction, we calculated we would each get $62. I come in today and the manager was on his way out when I was walking in and he said to me "how was your first shift sunday night? I saw it was slow but you stilll made $58 each which is really good for it being slow" Immediately I remembered that I was supposed to get $62, not $58. I didnt say anything because 1 I am brand new and 2 maybe he is wrong and there really is $62 in the box for me.

I got my money and low and behold it is $58. The server I worked with tonight happened to give me the heads up that the owner almost always gives us a lesser tip out than what the servers always calculate for themselves, saying that yes, he steals some of our tips, he rarely gives us the full tips that we are supposed to be getting. So on top of the 3% he is stealing, he also is in the habit of skimming another $3-10 per person per shift!!!!

I could not believe it, I am completely appalled. He told me two weeks ago that there was a $53 tip from a $300 check taht the owner did not include in his and another server tip out that they should have gotten. He told the owner about the mistake, the owner was adamant that this was not so. He went over the tickets with the server and the server was then able to prove that there was an entire $53 tip missing from their tip pool, essentially him and the other server were jipped out of $27 a piece! The owner said "I will look over this again at home" that was two weeks ago and he still has not given Carmen the tip that was missing. Carmen has to keep asking him about it everyday and he called him tonight to ask him about it again. Fucking bullshit!

Tonight we calculated the tips and we each should get $47 each and we wrote this down and put it in the box. he said you will probably get $43 or so. He said dont forget that we are supposed to get $47 and you will see that you will not get that for your tip.


AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!! this is unbelievable! Total bullshit! This sucks! I dont want to have to look for ANOTHER server job again, I wanted to just only work at this restaurant for good and never have to go to another place again. But I cant tolerate working for an owner who habitually steals from me!

Michele that is bullshit but I suppose there isn't anything that can be done about it legally? Probably not, bastard, I know of a restaurant where servers have to share their tips with the cook!

yea I dont know if there is anything that can be done.

I actually got my full tip out from tuesday. I guess since it was slow and we only made $47 a piece the owner probably didnt feel it was fair to steal from us on that day

Waiting in for sky tv engineer to fix my signal problems. Last day of my leave today, I have done everything on my to-do list!! Went to Zumba class yesterday, was fun!!

Went to to dinner with friends last night, had soft shell crab, going out for dinner again tonight with my ex stripper friend. Maybe some sushi.

I've had my delivery of three books from Amazon which are going to be some heavy reading material after I read Nicky's book (which I am still very much enjoying). Two of the books deal heavily with secret socities and the secret history of the world, the other deals with the Grey aliens stealing human souls because they have none themselves!  

I predict weired statements from myself while immersed in these books.

Yes, "factual", not fiction, but I'll see as I read how much can possibly be fact and how much is the author's wild speculations, going to start with the alien book first as it would tie into my research into the afterlife for my own hopeful book one day

tired, this getting up at 5:15 am to get to work before 7 am is tough sometimes

well my friend just cancelled cause he's sick, I swear he was a weak ass immune system, anyway guess I'm just staying home tonight

I just started watching the American Queer as Folk; only seen all the episodes once and that was around 2005, but I kept looking at it and thinking, I'd like to watch that again one day and tonight I watched the first two

I loved Queer as Folk! I think my watching it helped give my roommate the time the clue that I was a cocksucker, lol.

Took myself out tonight, to my favorite burger place, a heavy metal bar and grill called Lockdown. They were playing awesome music tonight, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Kreator...had my favorite turkey burger with a fried egg on top, and bacon, and kimchi, and jalapeno relish, and Valentina hotsauce...mmmm....washed down with good beer....mmmm.....
